La Femme – Joanne Moss – A bit about me……………….

I started my career in the Diplomatic Service, then did a stint in Corporate Banking with a US Bank, later becoming an Expat when my husband was posted to Belgium in 1998. This coincided with the birth of our first child and prompted me to turn to drink – well as a hobby at least. I decided to learn more about wine and steadily progressed through the various levels of the WSET (Wines and Spirits Education Trust) courses including the Level 4 Diploma. I am now in the second stage of my Master of Wine studies

We’ve been based in KL since 2008.  I teach wine appreciation courses and regularly import wines from the Ventoux in the Southern Rhone Valley.  If I can source other wines for you just drop me a line.

Wine of the Week: Each week of my wine appreciation course there is always a winner – a wine that the majority of the students find quite outstanding – that is the wine that will feature – you’ll get a quick tasting note, details of where to buy it and what we thought was the best food pairing.  Equally if I am on my travels or the course isn’t running I will well review an equally delicious finding.

Wine Facts: Quick up to date wine snippets that I think you’ll find interesting.

Wine Blog: Contains wine-related articles and also Recipes that have featured on my wine appreciation courses; each recipe mentions the wine that we felt went particularly well with the dish. Where I’ve changed the original recipe (and I frequently do) I’ve added an explanatory note too.  This is where I will also announce future tastings, events, or courses.

Food & Wine Matching:  This is for the foodies amongst you.  Dedicated to the recipes alone, with of course a wine matching suggestion.  In addition the Food & Wine Matcher is available on most pages of the site – this is kindly supplied by my fellow wine wallower, the much admired, Natalie Maclean.
